How far can people forgive mistakes?
The story depicts two people who should never have met, caught between guilt and friendship, as they confront an irreparable mistake. Nakata Yume makes the biggest mistake of her life. She thought she was saving a woman who was about to take her own life, but that night the woman fell from a building and died.
The deceased woman's only daughter, Osako Mio, cannot accept the reality that her mother would never have taken her own life and is plunged into despair. Since that day, Yume has been overwhelmed with guilt, wondering if she was the one who gave her the final push, and Mio is in despair over the fate that has been thrown into disarray by her mother's death. One day, the two meet by chance. And only Yume realizes that Mio is the daughter of the woman who fell to her death.
However, seeing Mio's suffering, Yume is once again confronted with the magnitude of her own mistake and, out of fear, cannot tell the truth. "If I hadn't made a mistake that day, your mother might not have died," she says. Meanwhile, Mio gradually opens up to Yume, who accepts her pain without pity or hostility, and even comes to think of her as a best friend.
The strange friendship that develops between the two continues to grow...
