Coach (JP)

Masuyama Hitomi, a section chief at Ikebukuro West Police Station, became a female manager at a young age, but struggles daily with older subordinates who look down on her and younger colleagues who go at their own pace. In the midst of this, an unusual personnel order arrives: a new transfer from the Personnel Division. The newcomer is Mukai Kotaro, a plain-looking 55-year-old man.
Does he really have experience as a detective? Why has he come to the Criminal Division now? Whatever she asks, he dodges the question, yet glimpses of his skill as a detective only deepen the mystery.
Meanwhile, a murder occurs in a private home. Based on testimony from the victim’s younger son, the elder son, Tomoharu, comes under suspicion, but due to a misjudgment by Hitomi, he escapes. Devastated by making a mistake unacceptable for someone in management, Hitomi begins to suspect Mukai as well, wondering if he’s there to monitor whether she’s truly fit to be a manager. What words does Mukai offer to her then?
