Synopsis

Hongo Takeshi, un brillant scientifique et pilote de moto, est enlevé par l'organisation secrète Shocker qui tente de le transformer en un cyborg qui possèderait des caractéristiques de sauterelle. Juste avant de se voir effacer la mémoire, Hongo est finalement libéré par le professeur Midorikawa.
Pouvant désormais se transformer en Kamen Rider, Hongo va s'efforcer de lutter contre les monstres envoyés par Shocker dans le cadre de son projet de conquête du monde. Mais Shocker ne s'arrête pas là et essaie de créer un autre Rider à partir du photographe Ichimonji Hayato pour abattre Hongo. Cependant Hongo parvient à sauver Ichimonji et à en faire son successeur le Kamen Rider 2, pendant que lui part contrecarrer les plans de Shocker à l'étranger.
Hongo reviendra par la suite au Japon pour continuer à se battre contre les sbires de Shocker.
